Adjunct Faculty - Business
About the role
The Adjunct Faculty - Business Core Competencies and Qualifications position at Henry Ford College requires a minimum of a Master's degree or higher in a management, marketing, finance, accounting, or business-related field. A Master's degree in Economics with a Bachelor's degree in Business is also accepted. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a career reflective of fundamental competencies such as interpersonal skills, communication, integrity/honesty, continual learning, public service motivation, leveraging diversity, dependability and reliability, problem-solving and decision-making, self-management, customer experience, and innovative thinking.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the best scholarly and ethical standards of his or her discipline.
- Make a reasonable effort to participate in professional development activities to identify and implement effective teaching strategies that foster student learning.
- Make a reasonable effort to foster honest academic conduct and ensure that evaluations of students reflect each student’s performance.
- Respect students as individuals and foster a respectful atmosphere in the classroom or an online learning environment.
- Treat all students with respect and fairness without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, weight, height, marital status, familial status, protected disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or belief or any other status protected by law.
- Demonstrate mastery of course material, prepare thoroughly for classes, and present material conscientiously.
- Teach courses according to the description in the Course Master and Department/standardized course policies.
- Participate in professional development activities to identify and implement effective teaching strategies that foster student learning.
- Make oneself available for student consultations and provide guidance to students to promote student learning and success.
- Meet all scheduled classes and final examinations as scheduled.
- Grade and return written work to students in a timely manner.
- Maintain appropriate records of students' attendance, intermediate, and final grades; submit required reports to the appropriate office by the scheduled deadlines.
- Develop and distribute an effective course syllabus, follow College policies, and adhere to the written syllabus throughout the semester.
- Participate in the College course evaluation process.
- Recommend support services for students and advise them on their use, when advisable.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Behave appropriately in dealing with students and staff to maintain a scholarly and professional atmosphere.
- Notify the Associate Dean as soon as possible if unable to meet scheduled class sessions; schedule personal vacations to coincide with the College.
- Perform, analyze, and report assessments of student learning.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Qualifications
- Earned MBA or Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Management, Marketing, Finance, Accounting or business-related field required.
- Masters degree or higher in Economics with a Bachelor's degree in Business also accepted.
