About the Role
Faculty members at Ivy Tech Community College are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in mastery of subject matter, teaching performance, evaluation of student learning, support of college policies and procedures, participation in college activities, and contribution to the growth and enhancement of the college's mission and programs.
Responsibilities
- Mastery of Subject Matter
- Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
- Interpret and evaluate theories in the field or discipline.
- Connect subject matter with related fields.
- Stay current in subject matter through professional development.
- Teaching Performance
- Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Use available instructional technology when appropriate.
- Encourage development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills.
- Communicate subject matter effectively to students.
- Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials.
- Support classroom efforts to promote student success.
- Evaluation of Student Learning
- Establish and adhere to learning objectives.
- Develop fair evaluation methods to measure student progress.
- Evaluate and return student work promptly to maximize learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Submit final grade rosters, grade books, and attendance rosters by established deadlines.
- Support of College Policies and Procedures
- Meet scheduled classes in accordance with college policy.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Exercise stewardship of college facilities and materials.
- Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities
- Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.
- Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes when appropriate.
- Attend program, divisional, and college meetings and events as feasible.
- Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs
- Maintain familiarity with college goals, mission, and long-range plans.
- Contribute to planning and development processes where appropriate.
Qualifications
A qualified faculty member in Business Administration meets the program standard through one of the following routes:
- Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, business education, public administration, management, marketing, or a business-administration-related field as appropriate to the program.
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 post-secondary semester / 27 quarter credit hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business-administration-related field.
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
- In-field national, regional, or state professional certification (does not include teaching license or certificate).
- Three years of in-field professional employment in the industry (teaching in the area is not considered in-field professional employment).
- Documentation of research and publication in the field.
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 15 semester/22 quarter credit hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military training.
- Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, public administration, management, marketing, or a business-administration-related field, with documentation in two or more of the following:
- Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in a business-related field (does not include a teaching license or certificate).
- Three years of in-field professional employment in a business-related field (teaching in the area is not considered in-field professional employment).
- Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award.
- Documentation of research and publication in the field.
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEUs, vendor, or military training.
