Responsibilities
- Translate real-world lab workflows into practical, job-ready training
- Teach on-site in Dorchester, two days a week for 3-hour blocks between 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
- Deliver engaging, hands-on training sessions focused on day-to-day lab operations
- Teach lab safety and PPE in real-world environments
- Teach equipment use and maintenance (freezers, CO₂ incubators, LN₂ systems, etc.)
- Teach sample handling and storage workflows
- Teach receiving, inventory management, and material tracking
- Teach SOP execution and documentation practices
- Facilitate practical exercises and simulations aligned to real lab scenarios
- Provide feedback to students regarding the subject matter and the professional skills needed to be hired and perform well in the workplace
- Administer effective assessments in a variety of formats on the key learning concepts
- Identify tactics to improve the course based on feedback from its initial delivery
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in laboratory operations, facilities, or support functions within biotech, pharma, or research environments
- Experience translating complex lab environments into clear, accessible concepts for entry-level learners
- Experience facilitating practical exercises and simulations aligned to real lab scenarios
- Experience providing feedback to students regarding the subject matter and professional skills needed
- Experience administering effective assessments in a variety of formats
- Experience identifying tactics to improve the course based on feedback from its initial delivery
Qualifications
- Non-traditional adult learners preparing to enter the biotech workforce
- Workforce training for MassBio’s Bioversity program
- 8-week, noncredit program
- Entry-level roles in biotechnology lab operations
