Job Summary
The Department of Natural Sciences at Mercy University is seeking passionate, dedicated, and experienced Microbiology lecture and laboratory instructors to join our adjunct faculty. This is an opportunity to join the School of Health and Natural Sciences with undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, health science, communication disorders, exercise science, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology as well as four accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Teaching one or more sections of Microbiology lecture and/or lab (fully in-person) at the Dobbs Ferry or Bronx campuses.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience teaching Microbiology lecture and/or laboratories to undergraduate students strongly preferred
- Candidates with a record of excellent teaching at the undergraduate level are strongly preferred
- Commitment to working with a diverse population of undergraduate students
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required
- Strong computer skills required
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly with BlackBoard, as well as teleconferencing software, particularly Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate, strongly preferred
Education Requirements
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related discipline, preferred
- M.S. in Microbiology or a related discipline, required
