About the role

Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Responsibilities

  • Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
  • Create and maintain course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field.
  • Qualifying degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience teaching all levels of American Sign Language at the college-level.
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

  • The ability to teach during the day, evening or weekend or combination of all.

Pay

Adjunct faculty are paid a per credit hour rate. The per credit hour rate is determined by the assigned rank and discipline taught. Assigned rank is determined by both education and teaching experience.
