About the role

The Adjunct Faculty - ASL/INT position at Northern VA Community College is a part-time role with flexible scheduling. The position is open-ended and contingent on class enrollments and staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS.
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
• Work with a diverse student population.
• Teach during the day, evening, or weekend or a combination of all.
• Teach all levels of American Sign Language.
• Teach in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Teach students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Native or near-native fluency in ASL.
• Experience teaching all levels of American Sign Language at the college-level.
• Prior experience teaching in higher education.
• Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.
• Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.

Pay

Adjunct faculty teaching ASL/INT are paid per credit hour based on rank: Instructor ($935), Assistant Professor ($1,047), Associate Professor ($1,160), and Professor ($1,249).
