About the role

Austin Community College is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach 3D Animation courses. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate coursework that supports student success and fosters a sense of belonging for all.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach courses in 3D Animation based on department-approved course learning outcomes.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
  • Train students to fill entry-level industry positions or gain access into 4-year programs.
  • Maintain 3D Animation curriculum to meet industry needs.
  • Review and recommend resources to enhance the learning environment.
  • Encourage and inspire student and local interest in 3D Animation.
  • Serve on college-wide and departmental committees as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Game Development or a related discipline (e.g., Game Design, Creative Writing, Film Production, Programming, Studio Art, Animation).
  • Prior industry experience in the game development industry for at least three years.
  • Experience using technology as an instructional aide to enhance learning.
  • Knowledgeable about active and applied teaching and learning methodologies.
  • Commitment to teaching in a community college setting, including multicultural classrooms.

Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
  • Proficiency using an online learning management system like Blackboard.
  • Proficiency using industry-related computer applications (such as 3D Studio Max or Maya, Photoshop).

Pay

Salary is determined based on experience and qualifications, with a range of $4,000 to $6,000 per course, depending on the number of credits taught.
