About the role
Teach assigned classes, within the Dental Hygiene Program in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
Responsibilities
- Plan course content and assign appropriate course work.
- Select appropriate texts and teaching materials.
- Meet classes at assigned times.
- Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.
- See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.
- Participate in assessment of student learning.
- Maintain student records, evaluate student progress, and assign grades.
- Prepare course/class reports as required.
- Maintain office hours convenient for students.
- Adhere to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), and any and policies or laws that govern higher education at Rock Valley College.
- Attend required meetings (faculty, division, in-service training, etc.).
- Aid in placement of graduates when appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene (if teaching is limited to a clinical and dental science laboratory course)
- Illinois Registered Dental Hygiene (RDH)
- Five years of current clinical experience in a Dental Clinic as an RDH
- Flexibility in work schedule.
- Interest in serving a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in educational methodologies
- Experience teaching in a Dental Hygiene program
- Experience with Dentrix patient software
- Experience with digital x-rays
