About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions in Health Care Ancillary Instructor roles for the 2027 Academic School Year. These positions are intended to create a pool of qualified applicants for future openings across LACCD's nine colleges.

Responsibilities

  • Teach any of the Health Care Ancillary Courses offered, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities, and ethnicities.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using CANVAS or other methods of remote learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR Associate's degree and six years of professional experience, which must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
  • A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications

  • For In-Home Supportive Services program: Experience providing direct patient care through Home Health or In-Home Supporting Services Agency.
  • For Medical Assisting program: Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Certified Medical Assistant.
  • For Optician Technician program: Doctor of Optometry or Registered Optician.
  • For Medical Interpretation program: Experience in medical translation and interpretation or National Medical Interpreter Certification.

Eligibility Requirement

Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and complete baseline testing or have an approved exemption. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the least, by their position start date.

Compensation

The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
