About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time Geography Instructor positions for the 2026-2027 Academic School Year. This posting is for the purposes of establishing a pool. When a campus has an opening, the hiring location will review applications in the pool and contact the selected applicants directly.

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of courses within the Geography Department, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
• Collaborate, communicate, and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
• Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities, and ethnicities.
• Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using CANVAS or other methods of remote learning.

Requirements

• Master's in geography OR Bachelor's in geography AND Master's in geology, history, meteorology or oceanography OR the equivalent.
• A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Geography Department members at one or more of LACCD's 9 colleges. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply.

Skills

Applicants with demonstrated certification in Blackboard, CANVAS or other online modalities may be given preference.

Benefits

Compensation for adjunct instructors starts at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
