About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions in Applied Music Lessons at various colleges across Southern California. These positions are open for the 2026 Academic School Year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach applied music lessons, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Engage in culturally responsive interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using platforms like CANVAS or other remote learning methods.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in music; OR Bachelor's degree in music AND Master's in humanities OR equivalent.
  • A sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Certification in Blackboard, CANVAS, Course Compass or other online modalities (if applicable).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master of Music degree in Performance in Oboe, French Horn, Commercial/Jazz Guitar, or Voice.
  • Experience teaching applied music lessons at the college level.

Benefits

Adjunct instructors are compensated at a starting rate of $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.

Schedule

Positions are part-time, with the number of paid hours worked per week, semester, or year indicated on the verification of experience letters.
