Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline.
  • Teach using the department’s established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
  • Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to the student grade book.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.

Performance Expectations

  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
  • Absorb and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
  • Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR
  • An associate’s degree in automotive technology or related field and 3000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR
  • A bachelor’s degree in automotive technology or related field AND Have the following certifications: ASE G1, ASE A6

Preferred Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations

  • Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college.
  • Demonstrated success working with ESL students and supporting diverse learning needs.
  • Prior use of a learning management system.
