ADJUNCT - AUTOMOTIVE APPLIED TECHNOLOGY POOL

This is an adjunct faculty pool position to teach assigned courses per regular semester, including online and dual-credit/early college classes.

About the Role

Teach assigned courses in various times and locations based on institutional need. Demonstrate expertise in the teaching discipline, maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and evaluate student progress while adhering to College grading procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction.
  • Develop and use diverse teaching methods and materials to support students with varying educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting course outcomes.
  • Provide students with a clear, written, and accessible course syllabus outlining content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods, and schedule.
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to teaching and learning.
  • Hold scheduled, posted office hours (minimum one hour daily) and be available for student conferences.
  • Assist in academic advising for declared majors and support program marketing and student recruitment.
  • Participate in self-evaluation, establish professional development goals, and maintain competence in the discipline and teaching methodology.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
  • Utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other media in instruction.

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Applied Science degree in Automotive or an action plan to complete the degree within 36 months of employment.
  • Current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in G1-Auto Maintenance and Light Repair and A6-Electrical/Electronics.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in the automotive field or ten (10) years of work experience in the automotive field if no degree is held.
  • Demonstrated skill, knowledge, and abilities in Automotive Technology.
  • Ability to plan course instruction based on approved syllabi/outlines to meet course content and objectives.
  • Ability to utilize varied teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Experience with instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other media.
  • Applicants must reside in Texas and be eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching, particularly at the college level.
  • Additional ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications.
  • Ability to teach and communicate with students from varied multicultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies and methods that enhance student success.
  • Familiarity with a learning college environment and/or learning communities.
  • Experience teaching college-level online courses or documented training in a college online learning management system (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
  • Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.
