Adjunct Assistant Professor, Dance (Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology)

About the Role

The Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology department offers academic and technical studies in graphic design, digital media, technical theatre, studio arts, dance, music, theatre, and video production. The Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare, and teach courses in dance fundamentals, world dance, and technique. Instruction may occur during the day, evening, or online, including other distance learning formats.

Part-time instructional service is compensated at a rate of $822 per semester credit hour and $32.88 per clock/contact hour.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction in didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success within a community college environment.
• Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction and curriculum enhancement.
• Collaborates with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates mastery of course content.
• Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
• Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
• Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with institutional philosophy, mission, and procedures.
• Participates in departmental meetings and college-wide committees as needed.
• Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
• Appropriately documents student progress, including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
• Develops methods to fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving stated learning outcomes.
• Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
• Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations.
• Complies with all published college rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws governing public employees, including document retention, FERPA, and confidentiality.
• Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair, Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance, or a Master's degree with eighteen graduate hours in Dance is required.
• A criminal background check will be conducted.
