Essential Functions

  • Directs and organizes all aspects and job responsibilities of an assistant coach as indicated in the Alvernia University Coaches Manual.
  • Assists the University's intercollegiate athletics program and establishes policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of developing quality, competitive athletics teams and supporting the individual educational goals of student-athletes.
  • Affirmatively assists in the recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  • Represents and/or carries out the duties of the head coach in his/her absence.
  • Maintains an active understanding of all University, NCAA, and MAC rules and regulations and reports any possible violation immediately to the Director of Athletics.
  • Passes the NCAA Division III Recruiting Test.
  • Promotes Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend all mandatory meetings, training sessions, etc.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior coaching and/or playing experience (preferably at the collegiate level).
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Commitment to the mission, core values, and goals of Alvernia University.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
