Adjunct Assistant - Biological Sciences
About the role
The Department of Biological Sciences seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Assistant pool and welcomes applications at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. The specific laboratory courses available vary from semester to semester and openings to lead these labs develop on a periodic basis, depending upon department needs, sufficient student enrollment, and dean approval.
Responsibilities
- Lead lab courses under the direction of an Instructional Lab Supervisor or faculty.
- Laboratory courses may include, but are not limited to, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Science, General Biology, Physical Anthropology & Human Evolution, Parasitology, Immunology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Animal Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Forensic (polarized light) Microscopy, and Forensic Molecular Biology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 18 hours of advanced coursework in the Biological Sciences (or related area specific to the laboratory course).
- College-level laboratory instruction experience.
- Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in the field of study specific to the laboratory course assignment such as Biology, Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, etc., and one year of demonstrated college-level laboratory instruction experience.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 18 hours of advanced coursework in the Biological Sciences (or related area specific to the laboratory course).
Skills
Skills required include effective communication and the ability to instruct college-level laboratory courses.
