Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline
- Teach using the department’s established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
- Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to the student grade book.
- Routinely engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
Performance Expectations
- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Absorb and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
- Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
Minimum Qualifications
- 6000 hours of employment in architecture, construction, engineering or a related field OR
- An associate’s degree in construction management, architectural technology or related field and 3000 hours of employment in architecture, construction, engineering, or related field OR
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or related field OR
- A bachelor’s degree in any field with at least 12 credit hours of coursework related to building assemblies and 3D modeling software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SketchUp, including the ability to create, modify, and present accurate 3D models of buildings, assemblies, and construction details.
Preferred Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations
- Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college.
- Demonstrated success working with ESL students and supporting diverse learning needs.
- Prior use of a learning management system.
