About the Role

Vast is developing next-generation space stations to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy. As an Additive Manufacturing Technician, you will support the development of systems required for the design and build of human-rated space stations. You will operate and maintain additive manufacturing equipment, perform part post-processing, and ensure quality control.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position located in Long Beach.

Responsibilities

  • Set up additive manufacturing print jobs, verify machine settings against best practices, oversee the print process and quality, and recover build pauses if necessary.
  • Safely handle metal powder before and after the build, including sieving, loading, part de-powdering, measuring, and safe storage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained workspace.
  • Develop and implement process efficiency improvement projects.
  • Independently perform verifications and document results clearly, precisely, and completely.
  • Operate post-processing equipment such as drills, handheld grinders, and CNC machines as required.
  • Perform preventive routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot manufacturing hardware.
  • Support rapid iteration and development testing.
  • Document build, test, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to and help refine test processes, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Support other teams through cross-functional collaboration and training.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing or similar industry experience.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, basic measurement equipment, and following detailed procedures safely.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in additive manufacturing or a similar environment (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings, controlled documentation, and processes such as assembly procedures, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists.
  • Experience working in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments (preferred).
  • Experience driving engagement with others, taking initiative, and helping push the team to new levels.
  • Experience with metal powders (preferred).

Schedule

Second Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Pay

Pay Range: $23—$58 USD per hour (California). Base salary varies depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
