About the role
This position reports to the Additive Manufacturing Manager and will operate all additive manufacturing and downstream equipment, including in assisting with trouble shooting, repairing, and following a regular preventative maintenance schedule to ensure Operating Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is maintained.
Responsibilities
- Send files to and operate all AM equipment in an efficient manner.
- Properly post process parts based on the specific AM equipment and material used.
- Assist AM Lead Tech during preventative maintenance of all AM equipment.
- Troubleshoot failed equipment and repair internally or when applicable, request an OEM technician to come in and resolve the issue.
- Work collaboratively with the AM team, Equipment Support & Services, Corporate Engineering, Ops Excellence teams to increase production efficiencies and optimize safety opportunities. This may include travel to plant sites, domestic and international.
- Maintain AM operations in clean & safe conditions.
- Recommend preventative safety procedures.
- Generate optimized STL files with proficient knowledge of slicing software to analyze and set up efficient and effective 3DP builds.
- Acquire advanced knowledge and ability to apply high resolution finishes to models and apply color match paint or clear coat to achieve customer requirements.
- When applicable, send & oversee jobs sent to external AM service bureaus for quote, lead-time, and delivery.
- Ship models to internal and external customers, domestic and international.
- Use of SolidWorks CAD to manipulate 3D data, when applicable, to support a successful model build on specific prototyping equipment.
- 3D CAD solid and surface modeling.
Qualifications
- AS/BS degree in an AM Technology, Product Design, or Engineering related field or equivalent Additive Manufacturing experience.
- 1-3 years experience directly in or adjacent to the AM industry creating digitally printed packaging, components, and systems.
- Knowledge of a multitude of AM technologies including but not limited to SLA, MSLA, DLP, SLS, FFF, and DMLS technologies & materials that drive plastic and metal output of physical deliverables.
- Technical background with ability to solve problems.
- Basic understanding of conventional package manufacturing processes and downstream equipment.
- Basic ability with 3D computer modeling, preferably SolidWorks.
- Mold design and machining experience a plus.
