Addictions Counselor 2, 50% (South Beach ATC)

About the Role

The Addiction Counselor 2 will supervise a case management team providing addiction services and supports, in addition to performing other duties related to the care and counseling of clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services to clients and may carry a caseload as a primary counselor, managing all facets of clinical services to patients.
• Provide full range of clinical and administrative supervision to subordinate staff; may act as shift supervisor.
• Participate in clinical leadership and in committees or work groups as assigned.
• Intervene when patients are in crisis and utilize clinical skills to problem solve.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy, educational presentations, and related tasks in support of quality client care and the total therapeutic environment.
• Monitor clinical record-keeping to ensure compliance with OASAS and regulatory requirements.
• Complete required client and facility documentation (both electronic and paper) adhering to applicable OASAS procedures and confidentiality regulations.
• Serve as a senior member of a multidisciplinary treatment team; perform assessment, treatment planning, case management, and clinical services with a marked degree of independence and limited need for supervision.
• Communicate shift change information as appropriate to facilitate smooth transitions.
• Complete forms, documents, and records efficiently, including discharge planning, while adhering to all applicable confidentiality regulations and author procedurally correct patient records.
• Serve as an admissions and discharge coordinator when necessary.
• Use a computer proficiently for patient documentation and other required communication.
• Coordinate shift coverage as needed and act as a point person during shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current registration as a CASAC-Advanced Counselor or CASAC-Master Counselor in New York State.
• One year of post-registration addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program (for open competitive appointment through NYS HELPS Program).
• One year of service as an Addictions Counselor 1 (for promotion).
• Must maintain current registration as a CASAC in New York State.
• Must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
• Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position; chosen candidates will be added to the mandatory overtime roster.

Prospective appointees will undergo a background investigation, including:

• Check against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
• Criminal Background Check (CBC), including State and federal Criminal History Record Checks.
• Screening against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).

Pay

$33,475 - $42,569* (pro-rated for part-time). The salary range reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials.
