Addiction Technician - Swing Shift/FE (63014)
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking an Addiction Technician or Specialist to provide direct clinical care to clients in our Detox Center.
About the role
This role involves providing 24/7 care to individuals experiencing acute intoxication or withdrawal in a 30-bed facility offering ASAM 3.2 (Social Model Detox) care. You will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with community partners such as hospitals and law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Conduct intakes and discharges for clients.
- Maintain accurate, legal, timely, and ethical clinical documentation, including admissions, discharges, inventories, and screening of clients' personal belongings.
- Provide counseling, case management, and guidance to clients who are actively intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
- Monitor and document client vital signs, physical condition, behavior, and withdrawal symptoms.
- Perform risk assessments and identify emergency situations, reacting appropriately.
- Monitor Urinalysis (UA) or Breath Alcohol (BA) tests and document results.
- Ensure the facility is maintained in a neat, orderly, and secure manner; dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
- Refer clients to supportive services and coordinate care, including transport to hospitals, aftercare, or other approved services.
- Complete care coordination tasks as assigned.
- Enter data using Electronic Health Record and Microsoft Office software.
Requirements
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Preferred: Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP).
- Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Preferred: Valid Colorado Driver's License with a driving record that meets organization's requirements.
- Technician Requirements:
- High School diploma with Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) actively registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA), or
- Bachelor’s degree with plan to obtain CAT credential within 18 months from hire date.
- Entry-level position: zero to six months of experience.
- Specialist Requirements:
- CAS (Certified Addiction Specialist) actively registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA) is required.
- Six months' work experience in behavioral health or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Annual influenza (flu) shot and negative TB test result required before the first day of work. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested.
Pay
- Starting wage based on experience, credentialing, and internal equity, paid bi-weekly.
- High School Degree with CAT or Bachelor's Degree: $22.04 – $33.07 per hour.
- Bachelor's Degree with CAS: $24.25 – $36.36 per hour.
- Additional $3 per hour for eligible staff stepping in as Acting Shift Coordinator (depending on role and certification).
- Shift Differential Pay:
- Day Weekend (Sat, Sun, 7 am – 3 pm): $1.50/hour.
- Swing Weekday (Mon–Thurs, 3 pm – 11 pm): $1.50/hour.
- Swing Weekend (Fri–Sun, 3 pm – 11 pm): $2.75/hour.
- Overnight Weekday (Mon–Thurs, 11 pm – 7 am): $2.75/hour.
- Overnight Weekend (Fri–Sun, 11 pm – 7 am): $4.00/hour.
- Bilingual Language Differential Pay: $3,000 per calendar year (prorated based on hire date and FTE), paid bi-weekly, for employees who pass a language assessment.
Schedule
- Fully on-site, working 4 × 10-hour shifts.
- Example shift: Swing Shift, Sunday – Wednesday, 12:30 pm – 11:00 pm.
