Addiction Psychiatrist (Clinical Health Sciences Track)

Academic Staff – Regular appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine and Public Health.

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking outstanding applicants for a clinical health-sciences track (CHS) addiction-psychiatry faculty position with clinician-educator or clinician-scholar interests. The successful candidate’s clinical focus will align with one or more areas of expertise in the department, including board specialization in general adult and addiction psychiatry, as well as addiction medicine. Clinical settings may include inpatient, outpatient, and intensive outpatient programs.

This is a full- or part-time position (50 %–100 %) that requires onsite work at a designated campus location. The position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations; the selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check under Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years thereafter.

Applicants will be considered for the following titles, determined by experience and qualifications of the finalist: Assistant Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), or Professor (CHS).

Responsibilities

• Teach medical students, interns, residents, and fellows through lectures, mentoring, and participation in educational programs.
• Provide psychiatric care for addiction-psychiatry and addiction-medicine patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
• Work collegially with other faculty members to advance a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Engage in clinical scholarship within the Department of Psychiatry.

Requirements

• MD or DO (or equivalent).
• Successful completion of a residency in Psychiatry.
• Successful completion of a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry.
• Wisconsin medical license by start date.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Adult or Child/Adolescent Psychiatry by start date.
• Eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by start date.

Preferred Qualifications

For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS track, candidates must meet criteria established by the department and outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS track.
