Addiction Medicine Counselor (Full-Time, Days)

About the Role

Provides engagement, counseling, and case management services to individuals affected by substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health conditions. Works within a multidisciplinary team to support members at various stages of recovery, delivering individual, group, and family therapy in outpatient or residential settings.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and documentation.
  • Coordinate care, including medication management.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Contribute to program development, training, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience in SUD treatment or completion of an internship.
  • Relevant licensure or certification (e.g., SUD Professional Trainee, Licensed Counselor, Social Worker).
  • Knowledge of best practices for treating substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Competency in assessment, diagnosis, culturally aware care, confidentiality, and legal reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records, virtual and in-person care, and case management.
  • Ability to interface with multidisciplinary teams and utilize assessment tools like ASAM criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years post-masters experience in SUD settings.
  • Experience in integrated healthcare, adolescent treatment, family therapy, trauma, and crisis management.
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing and Feedback Informed Care.
  • State licensure in mental health and substance use treatment; dual licensure encouraged.
