Addiction Counselor

Main Function

To be responsible for the direct treatment of an assigned caseload of clients who are addicted to alcohol or any other mood-altering substances.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• User role(s) information systems access as assigned, where applicable
• Provides group counseling to an assigned caseload
• Provides individual counseling as clinically necessary
• Designs and implements treatment plans and treatment plan reviews
• Generates referral source progress reports
• Conducts lectures, seminars, workshops, and task-oriented groups
• Maintains contact with referral sources, including EAP’s, probation, parole, and outpatient treatment providers, etc.
• Initiates Discharge Planning and makes appropriate referrals when necessary
• Participates in all scheduled Case Conferencing and Discharge Planning meetings for treatment review of clients
• Attends biweekly individual supervision and bi-weekly group supervision
• Participates in staff meetings
• Completes all required consent for release of information forms
• Conducts Peer Review monthly
• Enters progress notes and other clinical documentation as needed into the EMR
• Responsible for approving qualified family members for attendance in the Family Program
• Performs other duties as assigned

Educational and Qualifications

• Licensed Qualified Health Professional (CASAC, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC), plus one year of full-time paid experience in substance abuse treatment
