Role Overview
Peace Living is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Adaptive Skills Professional to provide Adaptive Skills Training (AST) services across the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Antelope Valley, and Downey City. The role supports individuals aged 6 to adult with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse, and emotional challenges.
Responsibilities
- Foster development of socialization skills
- Guide community orientation and public transportation usage
- Teach self‑care and meal preparation
- Provide money management and vocational assessment
- Encourage social and leisure exploration
- Design and implement adaptive skills training plans
- Collaborate with consumers to match schedules and address developmental needs
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Medicine, Speech‑Language Pathology, Rehabilitation, or a related field
- Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and access to a vehicle
- TB test results within the past 2 years (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Reliable cell phone for office communication
- Ability to work independently; organized, professional, and responsible
- At least 1 year of experience designing and implementing adaptive skills training plans or 1 year of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals
- Capable of lifting 50 + pounds
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Familiarity with HIPAA, HIPAA training, Safety First training, and mandated reporting procedures
- Experience with developmental disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Fragile X, Asperger Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD
- ASL proficiency; bilingual Spanish speaking preferred

Pay
$23.00 – $35.00 per hour, dependent on education and experience. Pay increases with positive performance evaluations quarterly, biannually, and annually.
Schedule
- Part‑time (20 – 40 hours per week) with potential to advance to full‑time
- Typically after‑school hours; limited daytime availability
- 4‑8 hour shifts, Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
