About the role
Mercy EMS is seeking a Paramedic to provide direct patient care, assess, evaluate, and transport patients to appropriate destinations.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct patient care including assessment, evaluation, basic and advanced medical rescue
- Access, stabilize, and evacuate patients
- Transport patients to appropriate destinations
- Perform clerical and maintenance duties
Requirements
- Paramedic (EMT-P) license for the state of practice
- Valid driving license
- At least 19 years of age
- Hazmat awareness level training
- ACLS certification at hire
- PALS certification within 6 months of hire/transfer
Qualifications
- Unimpaired mobility: Able to respond quickly to ambulance, access patients in difficult terrain, climb stairs, work in close and dangerous environments, and partner to carry equipment and patients
- Strenuous physical requirements: Able to perform strenuous physical tasks such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients in various conditions
- Medical skills and techniques: Able to perform required medical skills and techniques
- Vision: Correctable vision acceptable for day and night operation of emergency vehicles
- Communication: Able to hear and understand information provided by patients, family, or bystanders, hear breath sounds and accurately determine auscultated blood pressures, hear and understand radio traffic when responding with lights and sirens, speak and enunciate clearly in stressful situations, and verbally communicate with patients, families, and other emergency services personnel
- Physical demands: Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, prolonged standing and walking during each shift, ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
