Core Functions
- Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers’ orders.
- Adheres to established protocols and provides all pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologist for complete dictation.
- Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams.
- Scanning competencies should include, at a minimum, all patient ages, acuity levels and classes, independently and without quality issues.
- Performs ultrasound guided procedures and works closely with radiologist or provider.
- Educates patients and families about procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires national certification in one area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Uncertified new hires who are Registry eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire and image with an experienced technologist until they become fully proficient.
- BLS certification required.
- Successful completion of education and competencies via a clinical rotation with sign-off.
- Must also attain physics and body part exam.
- This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved by 0-3 years of experience.
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, ability to analyze data and solve problems.

- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
