PACU per diem at Northeast Surgery Center, providing anesthesia care in the outpatient ambulatory setting with a focus on seamless collaboration with the surgical services team.

About the role

Specialized training includes operating room procedures, phase 1 recovery, critical care CORE classes, ACLS, and PALS. Nursing staff supports patient care across all phases: pre-induction, perioperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and deliver care for patients in the post-anesthesia recovery phase.
  • Assist with procedures and deliver care modalities including cardioversion, ECT, line insertion, complex dressing/wound care, and care of critically ill patients in the PACU setting.
  • Ensure quality nursing care in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, Nursing and Clinical Service standards, ASPAN, and ASA.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to plan, direct, and supervise patient care, including direct care provision for patients and families.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, clinical affiliates, and RNs to coordinate and direct care.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current or eligible licensure in the State of New York.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute clinical, med-surg, or ICU experience preferred.
  • Participation in orientation, continuing education, and maintaining knowledge/skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Pay

Pay Range: $38.75 - $54.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under FLSA will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.

Work Environment

  • Clinical setting with Class I exposure.
  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, and reach.
