Acute Radiology Technologist

About the Role

This position performs prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center (BTMC) and Banner Children’s Hospital at Thunderbird in Glendale, Arizona. The role ensures optimal care and treatment to a diverse patient population, contributing to a leading-edge healthcare environment recognized for high-quality, safe care and excellence in surgical, oncological, cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedic, pediatric, and women and infant services.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines, using independent judgment and established methodologies.
• Educates patients and families regarding procedures, risks, and prevention.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and fosters teamwork to achieve quality patient outcomes.
• Produces high-quality images and prepares them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
• Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities, including confidentiality.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, troubleshoots issues, and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, adhering to safety policies.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies to ensure uninterrupted services.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient department workflow.
• Collaborates with internal customers (medical imaging, nursing, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams) and external customers (regulatory agencies, patients, and families).

Requirements

• Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program.
• National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• State licensure by the applicable regulatory agency, if required.
• BLS certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
• Effective communication, human relations, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred: Additional related education and/or experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
• Possess adequate reaction time to respond to unexpected patient care needs.
• Adequate hearing, visual acuity, and color vision.
• Fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
• Proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in/out of bed, chair, or wheelchair.
• May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must use standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
• Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or by telephone.
• Periodic use of a personal computer.
