About the role

The Apprentice is a development role at Main Line Health, aimed at providing talent with hands-on training and experience in healthcare. This role is designed to bridge the gap between education and career by offering practical learning opportunities, skill development, and mentorship. If selected, this program leads to a permanent full-time Patient Care Technician position within one of the following locations: Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Hospital, or Lankenau Medical Center.

No prior healthcare experience is necessary. The program includes the use of clinical simulation technology to provide advanced learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with nurses to provide patient care
  • Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and feeding
  • Take vital signs, perform Accu-Checks, Phlebotomy, EKGs, and other nursing assistant responsibilities

Commitment

  • Must commit to an 8-week in-person program:
    • First 4 weeks: 5 days a week, 8-hour day shift (Monday–Friday)
    • Last 4 weeks: 3 days a week, 12-hour day shift (Monday–Friday)
  • Must be able to work both day and night shifts (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
  • Permanent shifts will be 12 hours once training is completed and you are placed into a full-time PCT role
  • Weekend and holiday rotations are required
  • Final placement is determined based on operational needs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Actively pursuing healthcare certifications or coursework is preferred
  • Exposure to healthcare settings (e.g., volunteer work, internships) is a plus
  • Additional education or certification may be required upon graduation from the Apprenticeship Program
