Acute Medicine Clinical Nurse - PRN

About the role

Provides direct patient care in a 38-bed Acute Care Medicine unit, specializing in Med Surg and Peritoneal Dialysis (training provided). Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care within nursing standards. Promotes patient and family-centered care, educates on managing illnesses, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, social workers, and therapists.

Responsibilities

• Develops and documents individualized care plans with clear goals in partnership with patients and the care team.
• Assesses physical, psychosocial, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs, addressing patient preferences and barriers.
• Participates in safety, quality, and regulatory activities, and maintains professional development.
• Supports a healing environment through patient education, safety initiatives, and communication across care teams.
• Works in a safety-sensitive role requiring alertness and safe practice.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Licenses & Certifications: RN license required.
• Experience: No experience necessary; less than 2 years preferred.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills essential.
