Acute Inpatient Mental Health Nursing Manager
Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the supervision of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Behavioral Health Services, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the Adult Psych Programs including planning, budgeting, quality management, team building, clinical services, and marketing.

- Compliance with internal/external standards including licensure, accrediting and regulatory agencies
Position Responsibilities:
- Clear understanding and experiences specifically within behavioral health
- Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to ages of patients served
- Collaborates with staff, physicians, patients, and families to promote customer satisfaction and service values
- Aids in daily monitoring of patient care quality
- Coordinates and provides initial and ongoing staff education
- Aids in assisting with annual competencies
- Aids in daily operations, including staffing, scheduling, and productivity management, and serves as a backup for the Director of Nursing
- Follows all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Notifies the Director of Nursing of unresolved issues
- Works closely with the Nursing Director and Program Director to assure quality nursing care is consistent with the behavioral health program mission and vision
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of care provided to patients in the behavioral health program
- Communicates with peers, Program Director, Director of Nursing, and COO when needed
- Shows responsibility in reporting significant events through electronic notification
- Accepts and supports changes in hospital and departmental policy
- Competent as appropriate to responsibilities in the knowledge of the prevention of contamination and transfer of infection and safety policies
- Competent in the effective and safe use of all equipment
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Follows all hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Experienced and competent in the care of mentally ill patients utilizing behavioral health clinical skills to educate and guide the behavioral health staff in quality behavioral health care
Qualifications
- Behavioral Health nursing experience - Required
- One to three years leadership experience in a Behavioral Health acute care setting preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

About the Role
HCA Healthcare Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness Center, is a part of Trident Health. We give inpatient stabilization treatment to patients who seek treatment for acute psychiatric symptoms which cannot be addressed on an outpatient basis. Common disorders of patients treated in this program include but are not limited to: major depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, impulse control disorder and a variety of co-morbid personality disorders. Our patient population is both adult and adolescent. We offer 24 hour availability of a full range of services. We have the capability to institute rapid lifesaving interventions. Our physician availability is 24 hours a day to institute needed modifications to the treatment plan. Psychiatrist involved in the direction and management of the treatment program. Round the clock skilled nursing care implementing the treatment plan and providing monitoring and assessment of the patient's condition and response to treatment.
