About the role

As a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse at Somatus, you will be part of a team delivering outcomes-driven integrated care to patients with chronic conditions. Somatus partners with health plans, health systems, and provider groups to support patients and works closely with patients and their providers to tailor care to their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates high-level knowledge and experience in hemodialysis and related skills.
  • Performs all aspects of the hemodialysis procedure, including patient treatment, water treatment, and emergency procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with patients and staff, ensuring equal treatment regardless of background.
  • Monitors and discontinues dialysis treatments according to established procedures.
  • Affirms patient and staff safety through proper body mechanics, infection control, and adherence to OSHA regulations.
  • Administers and documents medications, blood samples, and blood transfusions as necessary.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment and efficiently manages supplies and equipment.
  • Communicates effectively with medical staff, supervisors, and patients, fostering a cooperative and supportive atmosphere.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
  • Assists in staff scheduling and orientation of new employees.
  • Maintains competency in all hemodialysis-related equipment and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing, with a bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least one year of nursing experience, with hemodialysis experience preferred.
  • ICU/CCU experience preferred but not required.
  • Successful completion of a training course in hemodialysis theory and practice.
  • BLS certification.

This position may float between multiple hospitals in Virginia, including Alexandria, Fairfax, Fair Oaks, Loudoun, and Mount Vernon.
