About the role
Banner University Medical Center Tucson (BUMCT) is a nationally recognized, world-class medical center focusing on making healthcare easier so life can be better. The inpatient pharmacy at BUMCT dispenses approximately three million doses of medication annually and serves an acutely ill patient population.
Responsibilities
- Delivers pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process
- Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness and completeness
- Affords clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulate recommendations
- Contacts prescribers with suggestions for improvement and resolves medication order issues
- Serves as a resource for patients and the health care team
- Prepares and dispenses medications accurately and timely
- Coordinates medication preparation and distribution ensuring accuracy before dispensing
- Manages day-to-day pharmacy operations including technology, inventory management, and accurate record keeping
- Supervises and directs the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students
Requirements
- Unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Licensed within 90 days of hire if not licensed in the state of practice
- One year experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Good organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications, and Automated dispensing system
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program or previous clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Previous hospital experience preferred
