Acute Care Nurse

Job Summary

As an Acute Medical Care Nurse, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in line with department and specialty standards. You will collaborate with medical providers and the care team, providing personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care. You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• BLS required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication
• Respond promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipate patient needs, and resolve them
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology
