About the role

The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Department of Health Services provides LGBTQ-specialized primary care and related services. This role involves providing acupuncture services to existing primary care patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed acupuncture care.
  • Takes a thorough history, performs acupuncture or electroacupuncture, and documents and bills in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Communicates with primary care providers and patients as needed.
  • Completes patient forms and letters in a timely manner.
  • Continually develops and maintains clinical expertise.
  • Participates in peer review exercises and completes mandatory clinical trainings.
  • Maintains a positive patient experience and clinical care.
  • Attends routine meetings with supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited acupuncture school.
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in treating psychological and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Well versed in Western medical terminology and diagnosis.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, body-and-sex positive, and harm reductive framework.
  • Ability to maintain a full patient schedule.
  • Unrestricted license to practice Acupuncture in the State of California.
  • Eligibility for malpractice coverage.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated expertise and passion for working with underserved and medically mistrustful patients.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Familiarity with issues of relevance to LGBTQ+ people.
