Job Description and Duties

California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) and Actuarial Office (ACTO) Technical Services Team is seeking to fill an Actuarial Analyst position to assist with our annual data extract of millions of data elements, perform data analysis and reconciliations as part of our annual actuarial valuation process, query and analyze data to answer questions, and develop tools to streamline the processes of the Actuarial Office.

Telework Information

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

  • Describe your experience with programming and software such as SQL, VBA, Java, Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel), and PowerBI.
  • Describe your experience with data analysis, research, and compiling research findings.

Minimum Qualifications

All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification should be included in your application package to clearly demonstrate how you meet the MQs for this position. If you are using education to meet MQs, please include your transcripts with your application package. If you have a degree from outside of the United States, you must submit an evaluation of this degree to determine the US equivalency. If you need an evaluation, you can visit the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) website to find organizations that provide these services.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL, VBA, PowerBI, Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong analytical, data research, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and communicate clearly on research findings and progress
