About the role

Our San Francisco Tri-State Property and Casualty practice, comprising approximately 50 employees, offers a diverse array of expertise, particularly in actuarial and complementary skills like data science and geospatial analysis. We tackle significant insurance challenges, including climate resilience and telematics, consulting with insurance carriers, reinsurers, and self-insured entities on areas such as loss reserving and pricing. Additionally, we develop predictive models and innovative insurance products for traditional and start-up insurers, along with supporting state regulatory rate filings.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, clean, and analyze complex datasets using advanced SQL and Python skills.
  • Collaborate with GIS and catastrophe modeling teams to build and refine predictive models.
  • Prepare comprehensive exhibits, charts, and interactive visualizations to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to rate analysis and development of rate updates for an insurance program with nationwide impact.
  • Engage in various programmatic tasks such as reviewing data, drafting reports, and maintaining documentation.
  • Undertake research projects of varying sizes and shapes, utilizing predictive modeling and non-linear methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, with quantitative coursework in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, statistics, etc.
  • A minimum of two actuarial exams, and in pursuit of a CAS credential.
  • One relevant internship up to four years of professional actuarial experience.
  • Substantial expertise with MS Excel and Word.
  • Substantial expertise with Python or R and SQL for data analysis.

  • Willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government-issued Public Trust security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based data analysis tools.
  • Working knowledge of databases.

Location

This is a remote position, based in the United States. Occasional work-related travel may be required for practice meetings, company events, industry conferences, etc.

Pay

The overall salary range for this role is $60,300 - $136,160. Factors such as education (including passed actuarial exams), relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc., will be considered.
