Actuarial Analyst Intern
About the role
The Boston Actuarial team is seeking a self-motivated and creative individual to support the Actuarial Manager and team. This role involves statistical analysis, financial planning, and strategy development.
Responsibilities
- Understands quantitative concepts
- Aids in the preparation of actuarial research and reports
- Presents findings and exhibits to peers and others
- Maintains clear and concise documentation of methods and activities
- Provides technical assistance and information to other departments
- Creates and maintains internal and external data
- Pursues actuarial exams
- Attends industry and actuarial meetings and regulatory meetings
- Completes required training
Qualifications
- Knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards
- Familiarity with database tools
- Programming experience (SQL or Visual Basic)
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of intellectual curiosity
- Proven math and analytical skills, typically acquired through a bachelor's or higher degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related fields
- Commitment to achieving membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society
- Passing grades on at least one actuarial exam preferred
- Demonstrated problem-solving experience gained through related coursework
