About the role

The North America Rater Delivery Team within Global Pricing – Actuarial develops commercial rating solutions for underwriting teams within AIG, while supporting strategic initiatives within the actuarial team. The team works alongside international counterparts, Product Actuaries, Underwriters, and the other teams within Global Pricing (Modelling and Advanced Analytics, Pricing MI and Pricing Effectiveness) to provide a comprehensive approach to pricing and portfolio optimization. The team supports AIG’s North America Commercial lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain raters across multiple commercial lines of business.
  • Collaborate with Business Actuaries, Modelers, Underwriters, Business Leads, and Chief Underwriting Officers to implement updates, enhancements and efficiencies to pricing tools and raters.
  • Aid in quality assurance by testing calculations to ensure quality and accuracy in other developers' coding logic.
  • Document pricing tool updates and algorithms and provide pricing tool release notes used by underwriters.
  • Support underwriters' day-to-day use of raters by reviewing their feedback and addressing questions or issues as they arise.
  • Work to develop and deploy raters utilizing Agile planning approaches, onto Python-based rating platform.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing tools used across the commercial platform.
  • Assist with quality assurance by testing calculations to ensure quality and accuracy in other developers’ coding logic.
  • Document pricing tool updates and algorithms and provide pricing tool release notes used by underwriters.
  • Support underwriters' day-to-day use of raters by reviewing their feedback and addressing questions or issues as they arise.
  • Work with modelers to assist with developing and deploying predictive models in pricing tools.

Requirements

  • BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related area
  • 2 or more exams preferred
  • 1+ years or more in commercial and / or financial lines pricing preferred
  • Pricing experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, Python, R or other programming languages preferred
  • Strong business and collaboration skills, and responsive to service needs and operational demands
  • Effective time management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

Benefits

  • Base salary range for positions based in Boston: $62,000-$78,000
  • Base salary range for positions based in Illinois: $60,000-75,000
  • Eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan
