About the Role
We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst with a strong background in Property & Casualty insurance to join our team. This role focuses on state filings, reserving, and modeling within the personal lines sector.
Responsibilities
- Understand and analyze the assigned state, completing the state filing process including developing rates, trend analysis, revising rates, preparing documentation for the DOI, obtaining sign-off from the Lead Actuary, and coordinating responses to any DOI objections.
- Independently apply complex technical and actuarial methodologies, as well as proficient actuarial knowledge, to complete unstructured projects.
- Select and ensure the quality of data used to perform trend analysis that supports rate level indications; translate business problems into technical requirements; run required models and interpret and communicate results to support business activities while executing and enhancing a strong control environment with guidance from a Director.
- Utilize actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product.
- Apply understanding of products supported, stakeholders’ needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science; or 2 to 5 years of related Actuarial experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 2 actuarial exams completed in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).
- Must have P&C Insurance experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, SQL or other analysis software, and relevant industry data & methods with the ability to connect external insights to business problems.
Qualifications
- State Filing Experience with the Department of Insurance (DOI) for personal lines of Insurance is preferred.
- Demonstrated competency with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.
Skills
- Actuarial Knowledge and Experience in Property & Casualty and Personal Lines.
- Proficiency in Actuarial Science - CAS, State Filings, Reserving, and Modeling.
Pay
$90,000 to $125,000 Per Annum
