ACTIVITY THERAPY ASSOCIATE III, CI *REPOST*

About the Role

This position is the full performance of activity therapy support work, assisting with the provision of prescribed activity therapy programs tailored by Therapeutic Recreators to promote the physical, cognitive, mental, emotional, and social behavioral growth of mentally ill patients at Spring Grove Hospital Center. The role provides appropriate activity therapy modalities to address individual patient treatment goals, fostering positive behavioral changes in psychological, social, recreational, cognitive, and physical well-being through effective therapeutic recreation programming. This is an emergency essential position requiring a valid Maryland Driver's License and the ability to drive a state vehicle in accordance with Maryland policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of prescribed activity therapy programs under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
• Support patient/client assessments for mentally ill, aged, physically ill, physically disabled, or developmentally disabled individuals.
• Provide activity therapy modalities tailored to individual patient treatment goals.
• Promote positive behavioral changes in psychological, social, recreational, cognitive, and physical well-being.
• Operate a state vehicle as needed, adhering to Maryland policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Four years of experience assisting in the implementation of prescribed activity therapy programs under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
• Experience with patient/client assessments for mentally ill, aged, physically ill, physically disabled, or developmentally disabled individuals.
• Possession of a valid Maryland Driver's License.
• Ability to be on call and provide a reachable telephone number.

Qualifications

• Candidates may substitute 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university (with at least 15 credit hours in health services, human services, education, or behavioral sciences) for two years of the required experience.
• Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, or therapeutic recreation for the required experience.
• Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Therapeutic Recreation field on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

• Motor vehicle operator's license valid in Maryland (Class "C" may be required for certain positions).
• Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) may be required.
• Red Cross certification in Life Saving and Water Safety may be required for positions at facilities with a swimming pool.
