Activity Therapist
About the role
As an Activity Therapist at Copper Springs East, you will be part of a diverse healthcare network dedicated to enhancing the well-being of patients and communities. Your role involves applying appropriate therapeutic practices, assessing patient needs, developing treatment plans, and providing ongoing therapy sessions.
Responsibilities
- Applies appropriate theory and standards for decision and actions regarding therapeutic practices
- Affirms patient needs based on cultural, religious, and physical disabilities
- Documents patient responses to interventions on a daily/weekly basis
- Formulates initial and subsequent treatment programs in line with physician or licensed practitioner orders
- Develops a plan of care with specific goals and interventions tailored to individual patient needs
- Communicates with patients to achieve the best possible outcomes
- Maintains continuous communication with the treatment team, therapist, and physician or licensed practitioner
- Reassesses and updates treatment plans when necessary
- Contributes to treatment planning and provides feedback to clinical and program staff
- Provides direction and education to patients about treatment expectations
- Ensures the quality of the patient's program to meet therapeutic needs
- Adapts activities to suit the patient's needs and offers varied stimuli
- Collaborates with clinical and unit staff to implement activity-related groups
- Updates AT goals to treatment teams and records treatment updates
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute in Recreational Therapy (CTRS), Music Therapy (MT-BC), Art Therapy (ATR, ATR-BC,ATR-P LPAT), or a similar field
- Current CTRS license as required by state regulations
- CPR and de-escalation certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire
Qualifications
Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic health record systems are also beneficial.
