Activity Staff

About the Role

The Activity/Recreation Assistant supports the Activity/Recreation Director in assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing activity and recreational services tailored to the individualized needs and interests of the patient population within the center.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the development and delivery of activity/recreational programs to promote patients’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
• Maintains precautions and limitations lists for each patient.
• Encourages patient participation in group and individual activities, including arts and crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, and recreational activities.
• Performs miscellaneous work assignments as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; coursework in recreation is desirable.
• Completion of a state-approved activity-training course is preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts and crafts, intellectual/educational activities, or community outings is desired.
