An Activity Sponsor is responsible for supervising and supporting a specific extracurricular club, organization, or activity. This role involves mentoring students, overseeing club activities, and ensuring that all events and meetings are conducted in a safe and organized manner. The Activity Sponsor works closely with students, faculty, and administration to promote student engagement and development.
Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Regular cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of all Color Guard equipment.
- Specialized movement instruction for Marching Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, and Spring Color Guard practices, camps, and performances for all new and returning members (July–May).
- Help in the design, planning, and implementation of the Marching Field Show.
- Work collaboratively with the director to coordinate a visual package, including costume design and prop design.
- Teach and coordinate the genres of Dance, Flags, Rifles, and Sabres.
- Write and teach the Color Guard routines.
- Attend, teach, and assist during the school day regular Color Guard rehearsals (January–May).
- Rehearse Color Guard students in 3-week Marching Camp (July).
- Rehearse Color Guard students after school (August–December): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:15pm–6:00pm (approx. 48 sessions) and Saturdays 8:00am–4:30pm (7 sessions).
- Attend all performances, including home football games (4–6), competitions (7), festivals (3), and parades (2).
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Band Parent Organization to transport all Color Guard equipment and props to and from each event.
- Attend weekly rehearsals during the school day to rehearse and assist Color Guard classes during the 1st and 2nd semesters.
- Rehearse and prepare Color Guard students for Winter and Spring Dance Concerts.
- Assist in the recruitment and team-building of current and future Color Guard sections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Education or advanced training with relevance to the club/activity strongly desired.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Collaborative team player with a generally positive attitude.
- Observes all District policies and procedures.
Environmental Demands
- Mild to moderate or louder noise.
- Potential exposure to weather conditions and variable temperatures.
- Typical school classroom, office, gymnasium, or outdoor lighting and facilities.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting of ten (10) or more pounds.
- Frequent sitting, standing, bending, squatting, and reaching.
- Repetitive movement.
Pay
Stipend range: $0.01–$5,000 USD (full salary range up to $10,000 USD).

Schedule
- Seasonal position (July–May).
- After-school rehearsals: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:15pm–6:00pm (August–December).

- Performances include home football games, competitions, festivals, and parades.
- Weekly daytime rehearsals during the 1st and 2nd semesters.
Primary location: Mountain Vista High School. This is not a one-year-only position.
