Activity Assistant - Memory Care
About the role
The Wellness Programming Assistant (WPA) plays a crucial role in the MBK Senior Living team, supporting the development and delivery of group programs in various living environments. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys making a difference in the lives of seniors and is passionate about creating meaningful experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build supportive relationships with residents to understand their interests and abilities, and plan engaging group programs.
- Encourage participation by facilitating group programs, preparing spaces, and managing materials.
- Collaborate with volunteers, resident-led groups, and community partners to enhance programming.
- Assist with transportation needs, ensuring residents have safe and reliable access to appointments and outings.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all residents, staff, and guests.
- Support the Director of Wellness Programming with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisors, executive directors, or designees.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Associate’s degree, preferred.
- 1+ years of work experience leading groups with varying levels of physical and cognitive independence in a similar industry or environment, preferred.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and valid insurance for transporting residents, and willingness to qualify for and obtain the required class of license for company vehicles, as needed.
- Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
- Must possess reasoning skills, excellent communication skills, technical and computer skills, and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Ability to work independently without direct oversight and supervision, and maintain a positive and professional image.
Qualifications
- Ability to support a flexible work schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday, in the community, and between neighborhoods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 250 pounds, necessary.
- Able to assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers or in emergency situations.
Skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.

Pay
$19.00-$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Sunday and Monday - 8:30am-5pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 12pm-8pm. Weekly hours - 40.
