Purpose of Position
Provides activities and interventions appropriate to meet the needs of the participating residents. Is knowledgeable of and understands the needs of the resident population.
Responsibilities
- Is knowledgeable of Programs/Activity department practices, procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines and ensures that Programs/Activity schedules are followed as outlined by supervisor.
- Performs activities, follows schedules, and maintains records as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
- Inspects program/activity areas on a daily basis to ensure that the grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedure and all hazardous areas are properly identified.
- Cleans program areas as directed, disposes of refuse/trash in accordance with established procedures, and reports to manager whenever supplies need to be ordered.
- Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, and other departments within Heritage, to assure that programs can be properly planned and maintained to meet the needs of Heritage.
- Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, use of appropriate PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials.
- Follows established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes.
- Has a competent understanding of all chemicals and has been trained to use them in accordance with standards.
- Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies and uses proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc. when moving or lifting heavy objects).
- Reports and assists in identifying and correcting problem areas and equipment, and/or improvement of services, when applicable.
- Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
- Reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, no matter how minor they may be.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information and reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of said information.
- Reports known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Executive Director.
- Drives Heritage vehicle for errands, transporting, or other uses as directed.
- Performs other job related duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or designee to meet the needs of the residents and the facility.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all residents, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Heritage at Falmouth’s commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect excellence and service.
- May be required to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays, when necessary, and in other positions, temporarily, when necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Degree and 1 to 3 years experience in a working with the elderly preferred.
- Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must have a valid MA Driver’s License.
Schedule
32 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, 9:30a-6p, Every Other Weekend & Every Other Holiday
