Essential Functions
- Develop monthly life enrichment calendars, aligning with residents' and tenants' strengths, needs, and interests.
- Evaluate and modify the resident life enrichment program to meet residents' needs/interests, including updating Resident Life Plans.
- Motivate and encourage residents, tenants, and Resident Life Partners to attend and participate in scheduled programming and spontaneous experiences.
- Promote and uphold the Resident Bill of Rights and HIPAA, ensuring compliance among volunteers and Resident Life Partners.
- Maintain relationships with DayBreak Program Coordinator and Agape.
- Ensure timely planning, execution, and follow-through of all activities, and completion of paperwork and forms.
- Serve as a point of contact for DaySpring Independent Living Apartment tenants and DaySpring Services leadership team, communicating changes in care needs or conditions.
- Take photos of activities and events for social media and promotions.
Leadership and Staff Development
- Lead, model, mentor, and teach/train Resident Life Partners to carry out the provided activities calendar and provide spontaneous activities during resident awake hours.
- Supervise staff on various shifts to ensure residents are engaging in activities and planned activities are conducted "Full of Life."
Administrative and Operational Responsibilities
- Interview and assess residents' and tenants' abilities/strengths at admission, including speaking with family members, to determine interests, abilities, strengths, and social history.
- Create activity plans and train staff to implement both planned and spontaneous activities, with expertise in working with older adults with varying cognitive levels, including those with dementia or memory impairments.
- Based on the activity assessment, develop and implement a life-enrichment plan with measurable goals consistent with the resident's Life Plan, including large group, small group, or 1:1 sessions if necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Leadership experience guiding a team to reach desired outcomes, focusing on all residents and tenants experiencing full-of-life activities.
- Desire, experience, and training in leading activities with a senior population.
- Passionate about impacting the lives of older adults with God's love through a meaningful life enrichment program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Chauffeurs license, driving a 15-passenger van for outings.
- Demonstrated sensitivity, empathy, and interest in working with frail and memory-impaired individuals.
- Reliable, flexible, patient, caring, and having a sense of humor.
- Effective communication skills with staff, residents, families, and the public.
- Creative and self-motivated to ensure all residents and tenants are engaged in life-enriching activities encompassing their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health.
- Good organizational skills, focusing on completing activity logs to document resident attendance at activities.
- Good problem-solving abilities with the ability to engage those who decline or are reluctant to participate.
- Able to multi-task effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
- Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar electronic health record systems.
- Experience working in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care settings.
