About the role

PACE, or Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, is an alternative care model for those over 55 years of age requiring nursing home level of care which aims to keep participants living at home in the community. The Activities Coordinator plans, develops, implements, and oversees recreational therapy services for participants in PACE.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and implements creative, individualized, and therapeutic activities for participants’ care plans.
  • Counsels and trains staff on new recreational therapy activities and programs.
  • Plans and offers varied monthly programs and uses group and individual-oriented interventions to maximize participants’ cognitive and functional abilities.
  • Offers therapeutic activities daily for participants with special needs.
  • Documents participant involvement in activities and revises care plans as needed.
  • Actively participates in team discussions offering feedback, ideas, and suggestions both on a day-to-day basis and in staff meetings.
  • Serves as a resource to staff and coordinates volunteer activities at the center.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (preferred).
  • CTRS designation.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to lifting participants and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning).
  • Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms.
  • Must provide negative TB certificate, or documentation to support exemption, annually.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional therapeutic recreation work experience with a minimum of one year experience working with the frail and elderly.
  • Experience with supervision of staff preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills

  • Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) certification.

$31 per hour

Schedule

Per diem/PRN – dayshift, M-F hours only
