Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, plans and implements activities for FPC participants.
Essential Job Functions
- Aids in planning and developing routine recreational activities for the Center.
- Develops a group activity plan that meets the interests, needs, and capabilities of participants.
- Works one-on-one with assigned participants to implement specific activity plans.
- Schedules, distributes, and posts the weekly activities.
- Participates as an Interdisciplinary team member as assigned.
- Assists with participant care needs such as feeding.
- Schedules and supervises volunteers and stipend volunteers (Senior Companions).
- Liaises with MJH Volunteer Coordinator.
Education Job Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Training in Therapeutic Recreation is desirable
Experience
- At least one year in formal activities program
- Arts, music, and crafts experience essential
Licenses/Certifications
- Certified Activities Director preferred
Abilities Required
- Friendly, outgoing, positive personality
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- To interact with all levels of the work group, and participants
- Sensitivity to the needs of an aging population
- Computer knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of documentation desirable
Functional Demands
- Work Conditions: Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation
- Infectious Material Exposure: Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
